Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) focuses on grappling and fighting on the ground. The goal is to take the fight to the ground and then to defeat the opponent with a joint lock or a stranglehold.
BJJ promotes the concept that a smaller and weaker person can successfully defend themselves. You can overcome a bigger and stronger opponent when you use good technique and leverage.
The BJJ Lab
The BJJ Lab was founded in 2013. A small group of BJJ students wanted to train together in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Word got around and the group kept growing until it turned into the BJJ school that it is today.
We are strong believers in the Caio Terra Association (CTA) motto “technique conquers all”. We focus a lot on technique at the BJJ Lab and we study all the tiny details that make a technique work against a fully resisting opponent.
Pat, black belt
Pat is a black belt under Caio Terra. He spends multiple weeks every year training in San Jose (USA) at the Caio Terra Association headquarters to learn from the 12 time black belt world champion.
He likes to coach and often travels to tournaments to support the BJJ Lab competitors. He does his best to prepare the competitors by working on an individualized gameplan for each competitor and through a scientific approach to conditioning.
Joonas, brown belt
Joonas is a brown belt under Caio Terra. He started BJJ at the Straight Blast Gym in Estonia and trained there until blue belt. He joined the BJJ Lab when he moved to Zurich.
He has excellent teaching skills and is always helping people at the lab, even when he is not teaching a class. With a great mustache comes great responsibility.
